Toes in the Sand...

For the last week in June, we loaded up the car and headed over to Gulf Shores, Alabama for the annual Jurgensen beach trip. Of course I stressed way too much about the 13 hour car ride with the little man but thanks to facing the car seat forward, puffs and Baby Einstein DVDs, we made it in great time and with minimal meltdowns. As always, we had a fabulous time spending time with the whole Jurgensen clan and celebrating Papa's birthday. It was especially fun this year watching B experience the beach for the first time.

The Bubbas woke up bright and early around 545 every morning and this particular morning, were sporting their matching pjs.

Ready to hit the pool! (excuse the humid lens..)

Enjoying our new floatie...but only for very brief spurts of time.
Sand! He didn't even hesitate when his feet hit the sand. He was on the move yelling, "wa-wa".

So happy.

At dinner the first night, B spotted his favorite creature, the "buhd" in the parking lot.

You can't see the birds anymore because as usual, he frightened them away. He never understands why they disappear when they see a two foot toddler running straight for them.

My favorite boys.

This is his, "why can't i pry this lid off?" look.

I love sweet AnnMarie in this picture. She is so nurturing to these two little guys.

This was the best of about fifty attempts at getting these two wild men to look at the camera.

The second we set B down on the sand, he was running as fast as he could toward the ocean. I love the innocent fascination you can see in these pictures.

Me and my little man.

He did this for a long time, just letting the sand run through his fingers.

The only negative of the whole week was this. The oil came ashore the day after we got there and this is what the beach looked like. It was sad to see this, but we did not let it rain our parade. It was even kind of interesting seeing the BP clean up crews cleaning up the mess.
The boys enjoying their snacks by the pool.
Loving the water..more humidity on the lens.
It's hard to see but he was following the butterfly everywhere it went...or in B's words, the "bu-fie."
Sweet little man.
Mac and cheese!

There was some hilarious karoake (yes, Reba was the popular choice of the night) after dinner and B never misses a chance to dance for a crowd.

Here's to another great Jurgensen beach trip!
